2nd Annual Fiber Fantastic
SUNDAY, AUGUST 15, 2010

Based on last
year's success we will be planning another Fiber
Fantastic weekend and we invite
you to be there with us. A day of fiber-filled activities, discussions, presentations etc. This will be our second annual fiber day and we are working to expand the offerings. More information to follow.
Last year's events included:
-
Heritability
of color in alpacas.
-
Processing of alpaca (and other) fiber.
-
Learning about
what to do with alpaca fiber.
-
How to breed
for the best fiber, how to understand your micron analyses,
to breed for certain colors.
We will have
spinners, knitters, crocheters, felters and other fiber artists on hand to
help you learn more about the wonderful world of alpaca fiber.
TRAVELER'S
NOTE: As this is a very popular destination for tourists, wine tasting (www.sbcountywines.com) etc., if you are thinking about staying the night or coming for the weekend (even better), you will want to make reservations
ASAP. We suggest Buellton, Lompoc (25 minutes away), Santa Maria (25 minutes North) or Solvang as good options for hotels/motels. There are also a couple of RV parks, one very close in Buellton.

time in the field photographing alpacas. Cost
$200 per person which will include 2 breakfasts,
2 lunches and Saturday evening wine reception.

camera. We recommend bringing your laptop and a
digital card reader (or your cameras cord) for

This 2 –day, hands-on seminar, will combine

photographing alpacas. This seminar will
include:

How to
pre-visualize the desired results of your photos
before taking a shot.

How to set
the scene for optimum results: discuss it in the
classroom, practice it in the field.
-
How to use
techniques that will capture your alpacas in the
best possible light.
-
How to take
fleece shots, a valuable marketing tool. Learn
the theory, and then try it out on live alpacas
and on shorn fleece.
-
Evaluation
and analysis of the photos taken during the
seminar.
Jennifer Clark has spent the past 20 + years
photographing camelids all over the world. Her
work has appeared countless times in the AOBA
